Clients and other public authorities

Our Dutch clients are nine different ministries. We carry out our tasks for them but also work a lot with them. Just as we do with other government agencies.

Nine ministries

We supervise certain matters for each ministry. Every year we decide together what is most important in our work. We do this in the Customs Authorities and Contractors Council. We perform tasks for:

  • Finance: import duties, VAT, excise duties, consumption taxes, liquid assets
  • Economic Affairs and Climate: intellectual property, telecommunications equipment, greenhouse gases, ozone-depleting substances
  • Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality: (biological) agriculture, flora and fauna, phytosanitary, veterinary, fish, wood, plant protection products, animal feed and medicines, seal products
  • Infrastructure and Water Management: waste materials, (environmentally) hazardous substances, fireworks, nuclear energy, fuel composition
  • Foreign Affairs: anti-dumping, countervailing and additional duties, sanctions, anti-boycott regulation, strategic goods and services, instruments of torture, Community supervision and safeguarding measures, approval of undertakings, tier-priced medicines
  • Justice and Security: weapons and ammunition, raw materials for explosives and drugs, narcotics, vehicle crime
  • Public Health, Welfare and Sport: pharmaceuticals, narcotics and their raw materials, abuse of chemicals, food safety, product safety, tobacco products directive
  • Education, Culture and Science: Cultural goods
  • Social Affairs and Employment: safety of work equipment

Other government agencies

In our enforcement tasks, we cooperate with other government agencies that deal with the same issue. For example, we call in the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority if we have intercepted a shipment that emits a lot of radiation. Through these collaborations, we also ensure that the business community is hindered as little as possible from government controls. We cooperate with, among others:

  • The Telecom Agency
  • The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority
  • The Netherlands Enterprise Agency
  • The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate
  • The Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority
  • The Public Information and Heritage Inspectorate
  • The Dutch Labour Inspectorate
  • The Central Organisation for Petroleum Products Stockpiling
